Every magnetic track run is made from the same four building blocks. Learn what each one does and you can plan a run of any length.
Track
The slimline aluminium rail your lights magnetise onto. Sits near-flush to the ceiling. Available as a 1.2m length, or a 2.4m kit with two lengths, a live joiner and a 60W driver included.
Driver
Converts mains power to the system's low-voltage supply. Connects to mains through a small knockout on the top or end. Position it anywhere on the run, but once wired in, it stays put.
Joiners
Live joiners bridge two tracks and carry power from one driver to the next length. Dead joiners only bridge the look of the run, not the electricity, so the second length needs its own driver.
Light heads
Magnetic spot or linear fittings that click onto any point of the track. Add, remove or reposition without tools, up to 5 fittings per driver.

For targeted lighting
- Mounted at 2.4m, produces a 1.5m diameter pool of light
- Over a 0.9m bench at 2.4m ceiling height, tightens to a 1m pool
- More likely to cast shadows — best for artwork, plants, textured walls, niche shelves
For general area lighting
- Even, linear light distribution along the run
- Consistent light levels over longer stretches
- Reduces shadowing across benches and worktops — best for hallways and central task lighting
